The Kuwait National Rail Road (KNRR) project is a landmark national infrastructure initiative designed to connect Kuwait to the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Railway Network.

The KNRR project, GCC Component aims to deliver a 111-kilometer mixed-traffic railway line from Kuwait’s southern border with Saudi Arabia to Kuwait City.
The GCC Component of the KNRR project focuses on the southern section, linking Kuwait with the regional network and facilitating the movement of passengers and goods across the GCC states. The project will be developed in accordance with the GCC Railway Common Guidelines to ensure full interoperability across the region.
KNRR, GCC Component will provide major economic and social benefits by:
Enhancing regional trade and logistics
Reducing travel times for passengers and freight
Supporting Kuwait Vision 2035 for infrastructure development
Creating new investment and employment opportunities
The project is being managed by the Public Authority for Roads and Land Transport (PART) and supported by specialized international consultants through study, design, and tender preparation stages.
The KNRR project demonstrates Kuwait’s strong commitment to building sustainable, modern, and integrated transportation systems for the future.
